David and Bec Pinkerton

You are here:

Who are you?

We are the Pinkertons! David, from NI and Bec, originally from England and we have been married for just over 10 years. We met on a 24-7 Prayer discipleship course and have lived the last five years in Asia. Gideon Oak was born in Asia and is passionate, opinionated and a lot of fun! Willow Phoenix is our little peach, born in Belfast and spends most of her days laughing and watching her big brother. She also enjoys sleeping through the night which means we enjoy sleeping through the night!

What’s your overall aim?

We are engaging with local and foreign communities in Asia, our hearts are to see people live in the fullness of who they are and walk in freedom, seeing nations fulfil their destinies as individuals do.

What are you doing to achieve that?

We believe that people only truly come alive when they have an encounter with God. A lot of our work revolves around that premise. As part of the community where we live we regularly go on trips into mountainous or tribal areas where we spent time praying for the local people and area, we have seen many healings and salvations through these trips. We have also been involved in training locals to do similar things. David is working with a prayer freedom ministry tool called Liebusters, and is in charge of getting that translated into several different languages. We regularly run training courses here for people to learn how to use this tool. Bec is not only an awesome mum and teacher to Gideon, but is also doing some research and work into helping people prepare for childbirth, and hopes that she will have more opportunities to do this here in the future.

What’s a typical day like?

David: “Teach a man to read and speak and he will be able to order his own chicken fried rice”. If this isn’t an ancient proverb, it should be, and this is what lot of my time is taken up with, learning to communicate in the language of this area. When this isn’t happening I’m involved with planning and going on trips with the wider community. I’m also working on getting the Liebusters course translated and running courses here.

Bec: A typical day is full of normal ‘Mum things’ as I look after our two littles almost full-time. I teach Gideon using a home-school preschool curriculum which we’re both enjoying and fills our mornings, afternoons are quieter with play time at home while I cook or outside in our apartment complex so that Gideon and Willow can play with other young children and I can meet other Mums. I try to incorporate my own study-time and time to meet with and encourage pregnant women as I have a heart for that and I also help set-up and run a local prayer room.

What can we do to help?

Pray for us! We live in a restricted nation which means that we have to be careful about what we communicate and although we enjoy living here we also face many cultural challenges. We always need prayer covering – that not only would we be sensitive to the spirit’s leading but also refreshed daily by Him! Chat with us! We love hearing from friends and people back home and really appreciate whatsapps, emails, letters and packages to brighten our day! Give to us! We live by faith which means that so far none of the work and projects we do are paid. We are partnered with by CFC and many individuals who love us and champion us. We would love to have a few more individuals who are willing to give to us financially one off or in smaller amounts more regularly.
