CARL MCMANUS
The Lord is faithful. When we’ve been walking with Jesus for any length of time, we can testify to the faithfulness of God in our lives. When life is going as we hoped it would, it’s easy to remember God’s faithfulness and it’s easy to thank him for it.
It’s easy to look at the attitude of the Israelites here and wonder how they could possibly say, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?” (Exodus 17:3). They had just been freed from 400 years of slavery, delivered from the hand of the Egyptians by walking through the Red Sea with a wall of water on their right, a wall of water on their left and their feet on dry ground. They still had full stomachs from the miraculous provision of the Lord through the sending of manna and quail to feed them in the wilderness. If there was an alarm to alert the Israelites to the faithfulness of God, it was blaring!
Yet we still find them longing to return to slavery. They found themselves in an uncomfortable position which looked different to the way they hoped their lives of freedom would look. When that happened, they forgot about the faithfulness of God.
Do we ever fall into the same trap? When our hopes and dreams are dashed, or when we get dealt an unexpected blow, how do we respond? Do we grumble as the Israelites did? Or do we choose to remember the faithfulness of God, even in the midst of difficulty?
Why not take some time now to remember the ways in which God has been faithful in your life?

Great word Carl! Negativity bias means it's easy to remember the difficulties and and easy to forget the good God has done in our lives. Praying God helps us remember how far we've come and the goodness he's poured out for us.
