Encouraging Stories

Encouraging Stories

October 9, 2020

We often receive encouraging stories and testimonies of how God is moving in the lives of our congregation and those watching our services online. We wanted to share some of them with you!

Here is an email we received from a lady in America:

I just wanted to drop you a note about how CFC online has become such a fixture in our lives during lockdown. I’m an American, living in Philadelphia. Although I am very connected to my own church here, I’ve been faithfully “attending” CFC every Sunday from my sofa since May.  I was on holiday in Belfast two years ago and attended CFC East Belfast. The benefit of lockdown has been our ability to connect with CFC again. The music and teaching is exceptional.

Last week I had a pretty bad fall and I’m laying on my sofa with a broken leg this morning feeling sorry for myself. While I was listening to the worship team, I began thinking of Peter & his doubt when he took his eyes off Jesus. I opened up my Bible app on my phone and started reading Matthew 14:28. I was struck by the fact that Peter turned to Jesus when he started to sink and Jesus helped him immediately. I felt such a sense of calm come over me. I put my phone down, the singing ended, and you walked on the stage and said during the worship you were reminded by the story in the Gospel when Peter walked on water. I have to tell you, I was slightly freaked out. I had literally just put my phone down from reading that same story. It definitely shook me up this morning, LOL.

I guess it was a good reminder that Jesus connects us in all ways: through the internet and even when the Atlantic Ocean is between us. As you go back into your church building, I’m really hoping you continue this online offering. I’m a paediatric oncology nurse here in Philly, so out of respect for my little bald-headed cancer patients and their fragile immune systems, I try to limit myself to being at home or at work only. The online service is perfect for me.  Thanks so much!

Stories from our sites:

One of our site pastors was approached recently by a child from the local community, who had been coming along to the Sunday services.  He was so excited and wanted to share about some special news he had.  His mum and dad (who don’t go to any church) had been trying for another child for many years, without any success.  After hearing about how God answers prayer, the child went to his mum and told her that he was going to pray that God would give her a baby.   Imagine the mum’s shock and delight when she found out a short time later that she was pregnant!  She was emotional as she confirmed the story to the site pastor and acknowledged that God had indeed answered her son’s prayer!!!

Last year, using some of the funds generously donated through our compassion appeal, we were able to help with college fees of a young person in need, in one of our sites, allowing them to attend vocational training.  They recently came back to tell us that not only had they passed all of their exams but they were progressing on to the next level.  They were really grateful for the help they had received, which was only possible because of your generosity.

If you have any encouraging stories or testimonies of the Lord's goodness please let us know by emailing info@thisiscfc.com.
