United Christian Church of India is CFCs oldest partnership, began over a quarter of a century ago. Established in 1972 with 20 orphans to care for, as an organisation, UCCI’s main aim is to provide education, teaching, responsibility and care for the children and a helping hand to communities in the poorest parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Today, nearly up to 2000 children are cared for and educated by UCCI from state’s the poorest rural areas. John Winston took the responsibility for UCCI in 1985 after his father’s death and soon after began to develop the relationship with CFC.
After his untimely death in 2005 aged 47, we have continued to partner the organisation, which is led by his wife, Nalini.
Child Sponsorship Scheme
Just as we don’t give clean running 24/7 water a second thought, we take education for granted too.
Even in India, one of the world’s newest and fastest growing economies, through the education of just one child, a whole family can experience an overall rise in their standard of living and a generational cycle of poverty broken. Why? Because education mean
-
Greater employment opportunities
-
More income and access to healthcare
-
Girls who are educated beyond a basic level marry later (and not at 13+) and the life expectancy of their children increases.
For over a quarter of a century we have developed a unique relationship with the United Christian Church of India (UCCI) which runs six residential schools that accommodate over 1,500 children and young people between the ages of four and over 20 years of age.
How to change a life
Through our Child Sponsorship Scheme, CFC members have changed the lives of thousands of children and given greater hope to their families – for £15 per month. This will care for a child and give them and their family a hope and a better future. In return, you will receive regular updates from UCCI on the growth and development of the child.
You can make a difference and we will help as all administrative costs are paid for out of CFC central funds or volunteers. If you are a UK taxpayer, your donation increases by £4.20 if you sign the Gift Aid declaration form.
To sponsor a child, please download the sponsorship application form or contact the office to talk about the Child Sponsorship Scheme.
